In this article I am discussing the  best possible solutions to fix No Route Error on Discord. So, first of all, it is very important to know about  No Route Error. So here, learn about it.

What is a Discord?

Discord is an all in one voice and text chat for gamers which works on both your desktop and phone. Discord has brought a number of game developers, gamers and their fans closer together. As a player, you can feel amazing by jumping into a community server and talking directly with game developers who build your favourite games.

Discord can be used on any web browser, such as Safari or Opera, Chrome, etc. You can also install the Discord desktop app which has the same exact interface as the web version by clicking on the Download button and following the on-screen instructions to install and launch Discord.

What is a No Route Error  on Discord?

No Route Rrror is an Error occurs when attempting to connect to a voice channel in a Discord server, yet the ISP/Network on the user end is unable to connect. In other words, Discord is obstructed from connecting to a voice server more often than not by an issue linked to dropouts, VPNs, and firewall restrictions.

A lot of Discord users are prevented from joining voice channels by the No Route error. The No Route error falls into the same category as the ICE Checking and Stuck RTC Connecting errors. In all cases, Discord is being stopped in its tracks when trying to connect to a voice server.

There are some errors that you’ll face if you’re failing to connect to voice:

  1. ICE Checking
  2. No Route
  3. Stuck RTC Connecting

They are typically related to the same kind of technical issue and Discord starts getting issues and is being stopped in its tracks when attempting to connect to a voice server.

What is causing the Discord No Route error?

After investigating the issue and looking at various user reports, we managed to identify a few scenarios where this error might occur.  We found a list of reasons why you might be experiencing No Route error.

Below are most of the reasons you will encounter the “No Router Error”.

  • Default IP address of the PC was changed: This typically happens with Dynamic IP that regularly changed. The solution, in this case, is as simple as restarting your Modem, Router, and Computer.
  • The computer is using a VPN without UDP: This is a regular occurrence since Discord is designed to only work with VPN solutions that have UDP.
  • Discord is blocked by the admin of the network: If you’re trying to use Discord at work or from a school network, Discord could be blocked.
  • 3rd party Antivirus is blacklisting discord: Whenever this happens, Discord will not be permitted to maintain an outgoing connection with an outside server.
  • QoS is not supporting with your network: It’s possible that your network is not fit to support Quality of Service High Packet Priority. However, you can disable it from the Voice & Video settings.
  • Voice region of the server is incompatible: This is reported to happen when you try to connect to a server hosted on a different continent. In this case, it’s better to ask the admin to change the server’s voice region.

How to fix the No Route Error

Below are a selection of best possible fixes and the steps to follow to resolve the No Route error. We’ve listed these in order from the most common to the most obscure. A single or a combination of these fixes will resolve the No Route error in the majority of cases.

To ensure the best results, start with the first method and work your way downwards until you stumble upon a fix that is effective in resolving the issue for your particular scenario. Let’s get into it and fix it.

METHOD 1: Restart Everything

The first step is to restart not only your computer but also your modem/route.

The idea here is to calm a jittery dynamic IP and effectively flush the whole network of any temporary connection issues.

Once everything restarts, open up Discord and connect to a voice channel to verify whether this resolves the issue.

At the next start up, verify whether you can connect to Discord voice servers without stumbling on the No Route error. If the error is still occurring, continue down with the next method below.

METHOD 2: Uninstall 3rd party Antivirus and Firewall

With the ever-present threat of viruses, trojans, and malware, antivirus software trends towards being unapologetically cautious, refusing all but the most secure and commonly used programs

and connections. Discord isn’t exempt from this and can be prohibited from connecting to a voice channel, especially if it isn’t whitelisted effectively causing the No Route error.

To resolve this, load up your anti-virus software and whitelist Discord for outgoing connections. The steps to do this depend on the specific program so consult official documentation for the right steps.

You’ll also want to whitelist Discord in the Windows 10 firewall. Here’s how to do this:

  1. Click on the Windows Start menu then click on ”Settings’ represented by the cogwheel icon

2. Click on ”Update & Security” among the opinions. It is the last one available.

                            Wiindows Settings

3. Click on ”Windows Defender” found among the options running vertically down the left-hand side of the window.

4. Click on the ”Open Windows Defender Security Center”.

5. Click on the ”Firewall & network protection” option.

Firewall protection

6. Among the options listed at the bottom of the Firewall & network protection window, select ”Allow an app through firewall”

7. In the window that appears, click on the ”Change Settings” box located to the right just above the list of programs.

8. Scroll down until you find Discord, tick the box to the left of ”Discord” and tick the ”Private” box.

Uninstall 3rd party firewall or whitelist Discord (if applicable)

  1. Press Windows key + R to open up a Run dialog box. Then, type “appwiz.cpl” and press Enter to open up Programs and Features. Run dialog: appwiz.cpl
  1. Inside Programs and Features, scroll down to locate your 3rd party security solution, then right-click on it and choose Uninstall.
  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to uninstall the third-party AV or firewall from your system.
  2. Reboot your computer and see if Discord is able to connect without issues.

4. The commands are ipconfig /release, ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /renew.

4. After typing the commands, you need to Restart your computer.

I hope after following this method, the Discord No Route error might be solved.

If the error still persists, follow the steps provided below.

METHOD 7: Discord Settings:

In the user settings of Discord, you will get an option entitled ”Quality of Service High Packet Priority”. The feature is designed to nudge your router/modem into prioritizing Discord data packets to maximize voice channel quality and performance. However, some devices and ISPs trip with such requests resulting in the No Route error.

                METHOD 7: Discord Settings

To disable the Quality of Service feature:

  1. Open up Discord and click on the cogwheel ”User Settings” icon in the bottom left-hand corner on the Discord window.
  2. Tap on ”Voice & Video” option from the lefthand menu under ”App Settings” option. To disable the Quality of Service feature - part 1
  3. Now go down to the ”Quality of Service” section and toggle off ”Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority”.To disable the Quality of Service feature - part2
  4. Try connecting to a voice channel to verify if this has resolved the problem.

METHOD 6: Change server’s voice region:

When trying to connect to a friend living on a different continent and you are getting this error, the issue is most likely occurring because the server has a different voice region that yourself.

In this case, you just need to ask the admin of the server to set a different voice region from the server settings. The server settings can be altered by the admin by going to Server Settings > Server region.

METHOD 7: Disable your VPN or use one with UDP:

VPNs that don’t have a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) are known to add an obstacle to the Discord voice channel connections. The easiest fix is to disable the VPN, but if you desperately need to run one, check with the developer whether it has a UDP function and how to configure it correctly.

METHOD 8: Network Restrictions:

In educational and professional contexts, network activity is often highly restricted to secure the integrity of the internal network, and external communication apps are often the first to be limited. Unless you’re dealing with a somewhat lax network administrator, the chances are access to Discord won’t be unblocked. It’s worth asking though.

METHOD 9: Check your connections:

The above method would definitely help you to fix the No Route Error, if not do Check this last method.

I think this method is quite easy from the rest of the methods.

  • The only thing you have to do is check your connections on which you are connecting your Internet.
  • If you are using a WiFi router, do check your router is connected properly or not.
  • Moreover, you need to Restart your router and check whether the Discord No Route error is solved or not.

Method 10: Disable QoS from Voice & Video Settings

There are several reported cases of Discord No Route errors that have been resolved by disabling QoS from the User settings. Apparently, this issue is known to happen on computers can’t keep up with High Packet Priority Quality of Service.

Luckily, this issue can easily be resolved by disabling QoS (Quality of Service) from User Settings. Here’s a quick guide on how to do this:

  1. Open Discord and click on the gear icon near your account (bottom-left corner).
  2. Next, scroll down to App Settings and click on Voice & Video.
  3. Them. scroll down to Quality of Service and make sure that the toggle associated with Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority is disabled.
  4. Close Discord, open it again and see if the No Route error is still occurring. If you’re still seeing the same error, continue down with the next method below.

Conclusion:

That’s the full breakdown of every method we have on fixing the annoying “No Route Error” message when trying to log into a voice channel in Discord. Hopefully, one of these methods solves your problem.
